DB and his faithful companions, his puke bucket and blankie.
It's been a rough couple days. Jake, Dylan, and Ellyse mysteriously began vomiting within minutes of each other Wednesday night. Unfortunately for Cheryl, it all began at her house, and everyone knows that the first puke is the worst. The one sure fire way to tell if someone loves your kids is their willingness to clean up their vomit without complaining. (Thank you, Cheryl!) The boys passed out in the car on the 7-minute ride home. It didn't last long as they had another bout a couple hours later. Jake was pretty much done after that, but DB has struggled for a couple days. He was up a lot of the night last night losing weight that he could ill afford to lose, but he is finally keeping some coke and corn dogs down (his request) this afternoon and I can only hope that we are done.
This is one of those times when I kind of wish Wes wasn't gone on a 9-day scout trip. I do have to say though, there was absolutely no fighting, arguing, or jumping on couches all day yesterday. It was kind of nice, but a welcome sigh of relief when DB finally had enough energy to pick a fight with Jake this afternoon.
One of the best things about being a parent is discovering little talents and gifts that your kids possess. I discovered from this illness that DB has the unique gift of precision puking. Bless his little heart, he faithfully carried that bucket around for 48 hours, endured at least 10 rounds of vomiting and never at any point got a single drop anywhere but in that bucket. Sometimes the little blessings are actually big ones. Glad you are feeling better, little buddy.
