Well let's see what I've missed in my blogging hiatus. Mom and Dad's 50th anniversary, DB's seventh birthday, a weekend getaway to San Diego, the kids' first day at school, my first traffic stop since I was a teenager, a new ward, the boys' football season starting and my new life in the QC. That makes for a super long and boring post, so purely for my benefit I'm posting some pictures for posterity since heaven knows it won't ever get scrapbooked or printed.
DB opted for a weekend in San Diego over a birthday party with friends. Done. Twist my arm some more, son. He's a boy after my own heart.
Kayaking and an ample breakfast from the generous folks at Sharkey's Pier.
The kids frolicking in the ocean. Pure joy...
quickly turns to fear. But they pressed forward and Sophie was left wet, cold, and salty but unscathed.

Look how quickly DB's gap tooth smile disappeared. He's looking studly with his new man teeth. (Yeah, he's going to need braces.)
The celebration continues at his new school.
Sophie and Lani say goodbye on their first day of school. It's old news for Sophie, who insisted on her beloved most frumpy dress to wear. It's strange from a girl who is the fanciest of royal princesses when she plays dress up. Lani put on a good show with some tears and the death grip, but quickly gave up the act after we left. They are both enjoying preschool and on track to graduate with honors.
Personal foul, face mask, 15 yard penalty.
It's fall which means it's football season. Jake and Dylan will play together again for the next eight Saturdays at Higley High School on Pecos and Higley. Call me if want to come cheer them on.
